Farmers' and Artisans' Market
September 4 2010 at 8am until Noon
Join us EVERY SATURDAY from June to mid-October (8am to noon) in the parking lot on the corner of Henry Street & Landmarks Blvd. You will find an abundance of delicious fresh produce, crafts, baked goods, plants & flowers, handmade soaps, jewelry, artwork, pottery, art demonstrations, & more. Family art activities will be provided by the Jacoby Arts Center & the Community Cultivators! Free nautre crafts for kids every Sat. in July, and free "Arts in the Park" activities every Sat. from July 31st through August 21st! Have breakfast at the market – coffee & breakfast items are available. Vendors Wanted – anything homegrown or at least 50% handmade is welcome! Call 463-1016.

Cars Blues BBQ

What goes better together than Cars, Blues, and Barbecue? We can't think of anything! So join us for the 1st annual Cars Blues BBQ Festival on Sunday, September 12 for a day of fun. There will be a barbecue competition hosted by the St. Louis BBQ Society, great Blues music, and an awesome car & motorcycle show on 3rd, State and Belle Streets in beautiful downtown Alton.
The Cars Blues & Bar B-Q Festival was conceived to celebrate Food, Fun, and Philanthropy. Partial proceeds from the event will go to the Alton Marketplace Association. Mississippi Earthtones Festival

Come celebrate life on the Mississippi River through art, music, and conservation! The festival will feature informational booths on ecology, native plants & animals, and recycling, as well as arts & crafts, food vendors, litter clean-ups, organized hikes & bike rides, and live music! Free admission!

Challenge of the Bluffs Run
October 9 2010 at 8:00am
Are you up for the challenge? Sign-up for the annual 5-mile competitive run up to the top of the Mississippi River bluffs and back, or 2-mile walk up to Riverview Park and back on the 5-mile course. The race starts at Broadway & Alby and finishes at Belle & 4th St. This beautiful route is hilly and scenic. Water stations are available at the 1-mile and 3-mile markers. Post-race refreshments & awards ceremony will be held at Mac's Time Out on Belle Street (near race finish line) immediately following the race. Awards will given in each age category. The entry fee is $20 per person. *Please note the date change to the SECOND Saturday in October

Community Tree Lighting

Come enjoy an Alton tradition, held annually on the Friday before Thanksgiving. Santa & Mrs. Claus arrive at 6 p.m. for free photos with Santa, candy, and prizes for children. Free cookies and hot chocolate, caroling, and the blessing and lighting of the Christmas tree are sure to get you into the holiday spirit. Free admission!
